Dubai. Day 1, Part One

I'm Since I spent almost all of my arrival day camped out in my room, the next day I decided to explore the hotel a bit.

A little seating area in the lobby

Bizarre event hall.

Over-the-top hallway to the spa

View from top floor lounge.

There were at least 5 different restaurants in the hotel. For lunch I decided on a place called Tresind. They do a kind of deconstructed, molecular Indian cuisine. The menu wasn't cheap, and I wasn't starving so went with the server's suggestion of a "lighter" app. Priced at about $25, I expected it to be delicious.... But it ended up being an amazing 5 course lunch....
Marinated olives along with the richest, most flavorful hummus I've ever tasted

Then this guy wheeled up next to me with a trolley and explained what he was about to prepare.... Which I so can't remember... But it was essentially a traditional Indian dish turned into a jello shot with crunches.

Don't let my idiotic description fool you. It was incredible.

Next up. A mushroom soup served as a tea. In that blurry shot, he's mixing truffle powder in a cup with dried mushrooms, then poured over the steeped broth.

Super yum.

Then, finally, the "appetizer" that I actually ordered. Beats the hell out of me if I can tell you exactly what it was.... The center was a herb infused yogurt surrounded by thinly sliced onions then fried. The red sauce was similar to a reduced, intense masala.

Holy jesus, good.

I was absolutely stuffed after that.... Oh, but wait....
A foamed condensed milk that was both sweet and savory with straw-like spun sugar.

Best twenty-five dollar lunch everrrrr.
